Since the uncertainty of cotton losses remains high, the Secretariat reduced Pakistan’s cotton production from 2010 to 2011 by 15% from the earlier estimated 2.2 million tons to 1.9 million tons.

Pakistan is one of the largest cotton producing countries in the world except China, India, the United States, and Brazil. China's cotton textile companies import large amounts of cotton yarn from Pakistan each year.
